Hmm...I tried to find "CVS update" message about that and failed.
I thought that Scott have already committed the change, but actually
that was just a proposal. You can find his patch in the message
"SecurityInterceptor problem / patch proposal".
I hope he will commit it soon.

The default JBoss configuration contains both JAAS and non-JAAS
versions.
