Dear all,

Here is a possible off topic message, as that deals with ejb but with
Jboss directly. I have submited this to the serverside.com too (

http://theserverside.com/discussion/thread.jsp?thread_id=4161)

I have got a design concern.
I am building a J2EE application that has some statefull EJB in there.

it's basicly
java applet --> servlet ----> ... ---> statefull Bean.

so there is a statefull bean for each applet running.
basicly what's in the statefull bean is a copy of the state of the applet.
I need some other application (problably an stateless ejb) let's call
it manager to be able to check that state and change it if he wants to.
The applet (aka the servlet handling it's call) & the manager need to
be able to talk to the my statefull bean, and therefore each of them
need to be able to get an reference ( or handle) to the statefull session
that make two clients for a statefull session bean.

So I need to be able to locate the statefull bean in order to access it.
but where to store the remote interface ?
  - in the servlet context ?
meaning i got to make an ejb(the manager) talk to an servlet(to get
to the context) to talk to an ejb (the statefull), which is silly.
  - in a singleton held in an other stateless EJB
meaning i am breaking the rule about static field, and that this
stateless ejb will have to handle all the traffic toward the statefull bean
  - somewhere else ?
         WHERE ???

someone told me i should use an entiy bean for that. That would solve my
client acces but i am not sure i should use it for this reasons
-The info in the statefull bean is really session dependant i shouldn't
store the information from one session to an other.
-the data there don't need to go into a database and somehow can be lost
if the server crashes.
- if i use an entity bean i have to take care of ejbLoad/ejbstore and
activate/passivate which i wouldn't really know what to do of if i don't
use any database.

anyone got an idea ?

Elouan
