Dunno, hence the "possibly" :-)

I'm guessing that since the stub is already castable to the remote interface
the narrow will do nothing. Someone more familiar with RMI/IIOP might
know what the narrow call is actually supposed to do. The javadocs day that
it "checks to ensure that an object of a remote or abstract interface type
can be cast to a desired type".
