Speaking out of turn as someone who isn't doing this but is following
what's being done:

The mainline development is currently being frozen. This will be
branched as a 2.1 or 2.2 release shortly. There is no branch for 2.0
fixes, but there will be for this next release and future releases.
again, the 2.1/2.2 is in the process of a freeze right now.
