Apparently, activating the VM JMX agent (-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote) is enough to throw JBoss WS for a loop it seems... http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBWS-1943 De-activating the JMX monitoring agent should solve the issue in the mean time.
