The getLocalGraphicsEnvironment() call is important as it tries to work out what the display device was that started the application.
We found that it was OK if you used say ssh to a remote machine to start run.sh On an X11 workstation we had to add -Djava.awt.headless=true to the JAVA_CONFIG in the run.conf file.
