You should really ask on the MySQL forums. This is really just an issue of using the correct connection URL for the JDBC driver, and the MySQL people wrote the JDBC driver.
Also, I don't think you posted the correct stack trace - it mentions an ill-formed namedPipePath entry in an XML file, and there is no such entry in your *-ds.xml file. Was there not an earlier stack trace? Any particular reason you are using a named pipe and not a TCP/IP connection?
