A little late on the reply here, but you don't need the filter. Just use
something like this for 168 bridge:

FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequest();
| if (responseObject instanceof RenderRequest) {
| RenderRequestImpl rri = (RenderRequestImpl)responseObject;
| return rri.getRealRequest()."do what you need here";
| }
| return "";
| }
