Sorry, what doesn't work? What exception do you get? I don't really understand the code (e.g. it seems that Person example is an entity but nowhere do you load/inject it, just do a pojo instantiation; I would expect associations rather than ids to link objects), but the checkin method itself seems fine in concept:
