A few additional pointers. 1. The machine has been configured for multiple VIPs. 2. Setting java.rmi.server.hostname to localhost in the JBoss startup command line has now helped the shutdown command to be posted and the server starts to shutdown. 2. However, the server takes a very long time to shutdown as seen from the following log.. 00:20:24,656 INFO [Server] JBoss SHUTDOWN: Undeploying all packages 00:20:24,657 INFO [TomcatDeployer] undeploy, ctxPath=/web-console, warUrl=file:/usr/master/jboss-3.2.6/server/default/deploy/management/web-console.war/ 00:20:24,671 INFO [TomcatDeployer] undeploy, ctxPath=/jmx-console, warUrl=file:/usr/master/jboss-3.2.6/server/default/deploy/jmx-console.war/ 00:23:33,663 INFO [Http11Protocol] Pausing Coyote HTTP/1.1 on http-0.0.0.0-8080
