I had a similar problem with the same symptoms. Turns out that in the XHTML
the dataTable value was "#{component.list}" instead of "#{list}". This works
fine for displaying the list, but on the return Seam can't find the
DataModelSelection for "component.list" since it expects it to be for "list".
