Correct, the gtx is not needed here (InvocationContext.isOriginLocal could be used to determine if it is a non-local call).
Still though, the gtx should always be set up and if it didn't fail here it would have failed further down the interceptor chain. Could you log to TRACE level? There should be messages by the TxInterceptor when it registers the gtx.
