That seems a massive overkill.
Why aren't you using the persistence context?
Then you can just do exactly as the tutorial says:
| public void delete()
| {
| messageList.remove(message);
| em.remove(message);
| message=null;
| }
|
em.remove(message) will remove the 'message' record from the database.
