I should have noted the main reason for having to do this is when you are running Java applications on JRE 1.6.x on the client side that connect to JBoss Web Services running on JBoss 4.2.x. With JRE's that are 1.5.x there is no problem.
Sun added new Jax Web Service stuff to JDK 1.6 that did not exist in 1.5. This caused problems with JBoss Web Services. Believe me, its a pain in the butt.
