It's "candidate release". See: http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JBossProductVersioning. Technically this should probably be called beta1, since there are a couple of known issues that have to be fixed before this could be a true CR. But, it's much closer to release than a beta would suggest.
