I'm afraid I forgot what many of the dialect 3 changes are. The ones I
remember are 64 bit number support, both bigint and numeric(18, x) and
better handling of numeric accuracy, which could be useful, and support for
weird case sensitive names with spaces (use double quotes, like "Stupid
coLumn namE"), which may be of interest only to the SQL committee.
So use may not make much difference to jboss unless you need the new data
types. The main reason to use it now is so you won't have to upgrade later
when your system is bigger and dialect 1 support is waning (may be years, I
have no idea).
