I strongly disagree.
VERY STRONGLY !!!
It looks to me like you want to shut down this
list just because you want to FORCE the users
of this list to use whatever smart web service
you have set up.
But:
- Not everybody has web access.
- Not everybody can navigate the JBoss web
site. For example, I have been unable to
use it for months (since the last major
redesign) with my old Netscape 4.61.
- When reading mail, you can be offline. But
navigating a web site requires that you
are online. For some people, being online
is expensive: I pay about about US$2.50
per hour online.
- Lots of people want to continue using
their good old mailers, and do not want
to learn some new interface just to provide
free support.
- Some people that insist on using mail to
ask for help might just start abusing the
developer lists instead.
So if this list is shut down, it will IMHO
be a MAJOR LOSS for the JBoss project.
So PLEASE do not shut it down just because
you want to FORCE people to use your new
service!
If you do not think that this list is any
good, you are free to stop using it yourself,
and anybody who agree with you are free to
stop supporting people on this list.
But PLEASE do not kill it just because you do
not think that you do not get enough traffic
at your website!
If you want to unsubscribe from this list
yourself, that's your choice.
But PLEASE do not FORCE everybody else.
Did I make myself clear?
Best Regards,
Ole Husgaard.
