In May 2004 IBM and BEA introduced v1.1 of their Work Manager API (aka commonj). The specification defines a concurrent programming API for JEE. Since that time both BEA & IBM have provided implementations of this de facto spec.
What I'd like to know, are there any plans to support this specification in JBoss? If not is the BasicThreadPool as described at http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=ConfigBasicThreadPool the preferred proprietary threading mechanism in a JBoss server? Finally, (and mostly out of curiosity) if there are no plans to implement de facto specifications why is that? For those interested more information regarding the work manager API is available from http://dev2dev.bea.com/wlplatform/commonj/twm.html.
