You should have the jndi.properties file in the applet's classpath. The file 
usually contains:

java.naming.factory.initial=org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory
  | java.naming.factory.url.pkgs=org.jboss.naming:org.jnp.interfaces

Check the %JBOSS_HOME%/server/default/conf directory for the sample 
jndi.properties file
