Thanks for pointing this out.  I've opened a JIRA; this will be fixed for 
1.3.0.GA.  See http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBCACHE-523.

For a workaround, add 

<attribute name="UseInterceptorMbeans">false</attribute>

to your config file.  That will prevent registration of the MBeans (at the cost 
of them not being visible via JMX).

Re: the depends elements, these are needed for most use cases of JBossCache 
inside the JBoss application server.  Running outside of JBoss AS they do 
nothing.
