This isn't the issue TreeCacheMarshaller fixes; that's deserializing state 
received from another node.  Here you're trying to serialize your own state.  
As you mentioned, the class it can't find is in jboss-minimal.jar.

I haven't played enough with JBC in WebLogic to be much help; here's a wiki
