You can get the server root path from the System properties in this manner:
String homePath=System.getProperty("jboss.server.home.dir");
There is a list of system properties set by JBoss in the documentation at this

Be aware that the Java SecurityManager may prevent you from reading and writing
System properties, in which case you have to grant yourself those priviledges.
