I've tried to produce a 1166 pages PDF with iText 1.4 and while WAS 5.1.1.9 take 90 sec, JBOSS 4.1 take only 25 secs. But platform is a Laptop with Windows XP sp2 with 1Gb of memory and a Centrino 1,6 Ghz.
