In one of the very recent other post in a different topic, Alex (the great) reminded me of something. You can put multiple tasks in one task-node and give each task it's own actor. You can then use the signal and end-task attributes to 'configure' the behaviour of the task-node. signal=first and end-task=yes would give the behaviour you need for 'killing the other task' at least.
The default webapp in 3.1 still renders all transitions afaik. In 3.2 custom forms can be created where you just show the specific transitions. This looks like a combination of both, but might be a suitable solution. I at least am going to try and implement something like this for a small internal demo.
