I don't understand. How is what you are describing different to @RolesAllowed 
in EJB3?

Well, I just went and had a look at the Acegi docs. I'm going to revise down my 
initial guess of "very easy". I'm sure there is stuff in Acegi that can be 
reused, but I was a bit disappointed to see how much seems to have hard 
dependencies to Spring APIs. 

Maybe I'm wrong, and its not as much as it looks like on a cursory inspection.

If anyone wants to do the hard work on this stuff, and get a POC up and 
running, that would be very much appreciated.
