Running JBoss 403 on RedHat ES4

Ran a NETSTAT on the machine running JBoss to confirm a bunch of open
connections to the Oracle server.

Run shutdown.sh to take down JBoss. The java process is gone but for a short
time after NETSTAT still shows the same set of open connections to the Oracle
server.

The real problem is that those connections remain open on Oracle. I realize
this is more of an Oracle question but I was curious if anyone here has noticed
similar behavior.
