Thanks for the reply.  I was afraid that I had to "name" the class I was 
working with at some point.  

I use internal annotations on my classes and want to pass the object to methods 
that act on those annotations.  The methods are "generic" in that they operate 
on any object with the annotation.  So I have to add a Class parameter to these 
method calls.  It's not a big deal (more of a hassle), I was just trying to see 
if there was a method to access the annotations from the passed class without 
also having to pass the Class.
