Yes, it might be a MySQL bug, I need to investigate further. I am travelling this and next week so I'm unlikely to get around to this until the week after next.
Having said all that, I don't understand why you're using an XA datasource for messaging. There doesn't seem to me to be any good reason for doing this since messaging doesn't require the database to support XA for it's purposes. So best bet is just to use a normal datasource for messaging.
