Haven't tried it yet, so not sure it still works.

You can run any java code through J2EE CAS. The appserver modules you
mention only plug into a convenience client side API that
also makes it easier for you to make your client code appserver independent.
You are not required to use this API.

I think someone indeed posted a jboss module for it about 6 months ago I
think. Search the mailing list archives. That was for jboss 2.4.x series I
believe.
