If you are looking for free docs, check out 
http://www.jboss.org/online-manual/HTML/index.html.  I would suggest buying the $10 
manual from http://www.jboss.org/doco.jsp though.  It is the PDF of the book that is 
out there.  Mostly covers 2.4, which is a good place to start learning on your own, 
unless you need stuff like CMP 2.0, in which case you should get the CMP docs that are 
also at http://www.jboss.org/doco.jsp.
