I'd say you are on the right track. You may want to write your listener as an MBean, or if you already have the listener class, just write an MBean than holds a reference to and manages the listener. You did not say what the other objects do or what they are, but you may want to write them as MBeans as well, or write MBean wrappers for them. Possibilities are endless.
