that might be the case with jboss 3.x but i don't know if it is 
possible in jboss 2.4.x.

Not sure about JMS, but if your timeout is a transaction
timeout, you can raise that limit.

I'm at 3.1alpha, and not sure if I remember correctly.
Try looking for a line like
  <attribute name="TransactionTimeout">300</attribute>
in your JBoss configuration file, and raise the timeout.
