I had a hell of a time getting remote connections to work. I finally fixed the problem by actually making sure that the hostnames in my /etc/hosts file match my IP address. (java.rmi.server.hostname did not seem to work in all cases when provided with an IP).
Now I have one standing problem. When I open an OIL connection, it works from the client, but for some reason the server is still trying to open a connection to 127.0.0.1 when it opens a connection to the client instead of the clients address.
