Correct!
Now it is split into jasper-compiler.jar and jasper-runtime.jar and 
both reside under jetty/ext/.

The jetty build.xml file has been updated correcly, as well as the
start.config file. But there are plenty of files in Jetty 4.2.1 that
still refers to the old versions.
E.g. 

Jetty-4.2.1\bin\jetty.bat
Jetty-4.2.1\win32\jettyenv.bat
etc...

So there is perhaps a problem there.

I am not sure if I will have more time to allocate to make it work
today. My work-around works for me.

But I will try to see if I can forward this talk to the jetty list.
I just saw that Jetty 4.2.2 is out. I will check if this fix my problems
as well.
