Hi,

I am using JBoss3.0.3 + Tomcat 4.1.12 + Apache 2.0.43, with oracle8i and nls_lang set
to ZHT16BIG5. I face the character encoding problem and please help:

have no problem displaying general Big5 character contents (stored in DB) on the web
pages, which are retrieved through EJB and passed to JSP. However, when there is some
*Hong Kong extended characters", then it cannot be displayed properly. However, I can
clearly display them through SQL*Plus. It can also be displayed properly through other
Application Server (e.g. Broadvision). Thus, I don't think it is a db-config-related
problems.

I have hard-coded these *Hong Kong characters" in my JSP files and also can display
properly. So is it a problem in EJB ? In EJB, I am just using, e.g.
rs.get("headline"), to get the database contents. What are the possible problems ? Any
character encoding configuration in jboss or tomcat I can make use of ? Or any
configurations need to change to cater "Hong Kong extended Big 5 characters" ?
***Remember I have no problem for normal tranditional Big5.

Thanks,
Camus
