But those are not different servers, but only different branches

IIRC tha LdapLoginModule can do a normal LDAP search, where you 
can specify what ever you want.
I.e. do not look for cn=*,ou=it,o=yourcompany, but e.g.
for (forgot how to write it) userrole=portaluser or
for something like cn=*,ou=*,o=yourcompany
LDAP is very flexible in this respect
