The -c option is only really intended for configs in the jboss distribution.
You should use -Djboss.home.dir=whatver
For the ports, investigate the binding service.

thanks for that. It works now. I did have to amend the run.sh file to include all of the jars under jboss_home/lib as part of the jboss_startup_classpath, and then it worked. Now, as you say I need to work out something for the ports.
