The "problem" is that I want to optimize the storing of incoming messages. 

The use of database connections was just an observation. I thought that the CMP
engine would use several connections to be able to save the entity beans faster. 

We increased the sequence block size and got better performance, but it's still
to slow. Increasing it further made it slower. Right now we use blocks of 50.
