The depends mechanism is documented in the admin and devel guide, but it does not trigger redeployments. It triggers service life cycle events create/start/stop/destroy. If you want the war and mbean to be redeployed together nest the war in the mbean sar.

Where do I find documentation on how depends and mbean naming work?
My application is an issue tracking application with a scheduled mail
notification process. I'm deploying it as a war file for the main
application and a *-service.xml to schedule the notification process.
I'm trying to get the notification service to depend on the war file, so that when I redeploy the war, the scheduler is also redeployed. They both have to use the same classes do to the underlying Poet database.
Or, very specifically, why can't I <depends>jboss.management.local:J2EEApplication=null,J2EEServer=Local,j2eeType=WebModule,name=ares.war</depends>
in my notifications-service.xml file?
Any help or RThisParticularFM would be appreciated. I've subscribed to the JBoss docs, but I've not been successful finding the docs that describe this.
Thanks, Joe
