Despite it running on an unexposed port, on a machine that's not visible outside the firewall, with a password, and renamed.
We don't need it, but it'll sure be useful if I can convince her it's relatively safe. IF it is.

It is always a risk, secured or otherwise. It depends how good your security is. I suggest you do some background on security in general so that you can assess that risk.
