Linkage errors indicate an inconsistent type system due to repdeployment. Open a bug report if you have an example that demonstrates what you are seeing.

I guess that is a "no you should not be responsible" for deleting them. Regarding the linkage error, we have the same problem hot deploying EJB jars.
