Quick highlight, the BZResearch annual survey came out (SDTimes) with the 2003 marketshares in application servers. JBoss is at a 27% market share at IT shops with BEA at 34% and IBM at 40%. We are getting close, I want to take over BEA in 2004. We had the MOST NUMBER OF NEW DEPLOYMENTS IN 2003, beating both IBM and BEA. Sun J2EE Certification Founders Program introduced in November. JBoss has licensed the J2EE Certification Test Kit from Sun. PRODUCT EXPANSION JBoss continues to expand the breadth and depth of our middleware offerings. The core JBoss Application Server released Version 3.2.3. as the latest production release. This release contains performance enhancements and functional improvements. In addition, new JBoss projects have begun seeing customer adoption. JBoss Hibernate has emerged as the leading Object-Relational Mapping and persistence product in the market. Customers are using this in combination with JBoss Application Server, but also with IBM WebSphere, BEA WebLogic and on a stand-alone basis. JBoss 24X7 Production Support services and JASP partners ensure JBoss Hibernate is the safe choice. JBossCache was introduced in December. This powerful distributed cache can be used on a stand alone basis, and is also tightly integrated into the JBoss Application Server. This will become a key infrastructure component to provide high performance and reliability to Tomcat and JBoss applications with no changes to any application code. JBoss Nukes is a port of the popular PHP PostNukes Content Management and Portal server. In addition to adding the enterprise scalability and performance features found in the JBoss Application Server, this makes it easy to provide portal capabilities such as personalization, security, functional plug-ins, and forums. Nukes provides a very easy to use content management system that allows non-technical users to maintain content on a web site. CUSTOMER EXPANSION The JBoss Application Server continues to expand and has reached #1 market share for Developers, #1 market share for ISV bundling, and #3 in Production Deployment. BZ Research reported in a survey of 1,000 IT Managers that JBoss adoption had risen from 13.9% in 2002 to 26.9% in 2003. This puts us close to IBM at 40% and BEA at 34% in this survey (multiple responses allowed). JBoss had the biggest absolute growth of all application servers. PARTNERS JBoss Authorized Service Partner Program was launched in Q4. JBoss is focusing our efforts on two key areas initially: European System Integrators: JBoss is building out a complete SI partner program for localized support and implementation services across all countries in Europe. To date we have signed local Integrators in: France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Finland, Belgium, Switzerland Software and Systems Vendors: In Q4, JBoss announced an alliance with Iona to become their strategic application server platform. Iona will provide first and second level support for JBoss, and bundle JBoss with their products and services. MySQL Alliance - 2nd generation of open source. JBoss and MySQL share the same vision of Professional Open Source. Both companies are part of what we call "the second generation of open source companies". We are both based on a equality of the projects with the companies.
