I probably mislead you a bit before with talk about *active XAResource", I can be a bit loose in my terminolgy.
It is probably best to think of it as session state per transaction: with MC - XAResource -< Session - == one-one -< == one-many i.e. the XAResource has a map of xid to session state. The key part is that only one xid/session can be active (associated) at any given time.
