try this (file in /jboss/bin/):
ClassLoader loader = Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader();
InputStream is = loader.getResourceAsStream("my.properties");
or:
java.net.URL url =
ClassLoader.getSystemResource("my.properties");
myProps = new java.util.Properties();
myProps.load(url.openStream());
