This is a specific problem with leakage of the commons-logging from tomcat to the deployment wars. Removal of the commons-logging.jar from the wars results in a valid scoped deployment as does the use the ears as is with 4.0.1RC2 when UseJBossWebLoader=false on the jbossweb-tomcat55.sar/META-INF/jboss-service.xml
