JBoss Services Management

JBoss Services is organized into three Services Lines (Support, Training, 
Consulting) and three Geographic territories (North America, EMEA, APAC).  Each 
Service Line Director is responsible for developing and delivering the 
associated Services on a global basis.  Each Geographic Services Director is 
responsible for driving and delivering all Services business in the territory.  
There are two additional Director-level positions to support Business 
Excellence and the JBoss ON program.

 


Principal Consultant Position

JBoss? vision for delivering Professional Open Source to the enterprise is 
dependent on our ability to secure and renew Subscriptions from the Global 2000 
set of companies and government organizations.  Consulting Services are 
extremely strategic as they enable prospects to realize that they can be 
successful with JEMS and enable customers to overcome challenges associated 
with the implementation of complex applications based on JEMS.

As evidenced by the above positioning, the role of the Principal Consultant is 
critical ? they must be able to both lead the development of the Consulting 
Practice while personally engaging in strategic consulting engagements.  

Responsibilities

?       Practice Development    Responsible for defining and developing JBoss 
Consulting service offerings and methodologies, including services such as 
architectural design, migration services, performance tuning and optimization, 
clustering, etc.
 
?       Strategic Consulting    Personally deliver consulting engagements to 
major prospects and clients in strategic areas such as SOA, migration services, 
etc.

?       Service Delivery        Work with Geographic Services Directors to 
manage Consulting team to ensure high customer satisfaction through on-time, 
on-budget delivery of Consulting engagements.  

?       Business Development
        Work with Sales teams to help secure major consulting engagements.
?       People Management & Development Direct responsibility for North 
American-based Consultants.  Dotted line responsibility for all Consultants 
based outside of North America.  

?       Member of Services Management Team      Contribute to management of 
JBoss business overall through participation in all Services Management Staff 
functions

Key Success Factors

?       Services Financials     Consulting bookings, revenues and margins plus 
influenced Subscription bookings

?       Customer Satisfaction   Three-tiered program currently in pilot
        
?       Marquee Accounts        Number of customers who sign up for or renew 
JBoss Enterprise Subscriptions following consulting engagements

Required Skills and Experience

?       A minimum of 10 years IT industry experience
?       5 years consulting experience 
?       5 years enterprise software experience
?       5 years J2EE experience
?       Significant experience of managing consultants and other senior 
technical staff
?       Significant experience of leading large, complex software projects 
requiring cutting-edge approaches and technologies
?       Strong working knowledge and experience in Service Oriented 
Architectures (SOA)
?       Good working knowledge of Open Source business and technologies
?       Ability to develop, cultivate and maintain high-level relationships 
with executives in key prospects and customers
?       Proven ability to succeed in a matrix environment 
?       Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
?       Must be highly motivated, self-sufficient, perceptive, flexible and 
high energy

Reporting Structure and Location

This position reports to the Vice President, Services and can be based in any 
major continental US location.  Significant travel will be required.   For
