BTW: I managed to overcome the original problem described in this thread by: 1. replacing the jboss/lib/dom4j.jar file with the latest jar from dom4j site (dom4j-1.6.1.jar at the time of writing, rename to dom4j.jar) 2. placing jaxen.jar in jboss/lib/
