Eclipse sucks for that, you can't specify a branch or tag on a module like 
jboss-4.0.x so it's easier to checkout using command line or GUI client like 
WinCVS then import the project.

The other solution if you really really want to check out JBoss AS from Eclipse 
is to use an existing Eclipse project set like explained here :
