Also, it only happens when the property is null. Otherwise, it will accept the text data with no trouble. If it's nulled out, it fails. The column allows nulls, so its not a db problem. It seems as the hibernate is trying to set the column data to varbinary when the property is null which is incompatible with mssql. This seems like a bug.
