Philip,

i see the role of the j2ee spec but how much effort does it cost
in deploying the same app on tomcat and orion. I have developed several
servlet apps already, and they can be deployed easily on bot platforms but
as with authentication it seems to be a little more work then just dropping
the .war file. As you have extensive experience already on deploying on both
platforms at the same time can you give me some hints ?

That's the reason why j2ee specifications exists...

Check out the java servlet specification, v2.2 (or +) from SUN.

Note: We develop applications for Tomcat and IBM Websphere using the
same (servlet) security model!

Objet : [dbforms] Newbie question concerning login and forward actions

How should i tackle the following situation with dbforms.

A user needs to login to enter a number of jsp pages, these users are
noted in a database table with username/password. If a logojn fails the
users needs to be redirected to the current login page.

I do not want to use the provided tomcat / orion implementation because
the application has to run indepently of the runtime enviroment. So the
application should be installed on tomcat or orion with a minimum of
trouble...

Any suggestions on that ?
